If you like Sudoku, you're bound to like this book. Personally, I can never have enough! Some of these puzzles were relatively easy, but some were real "nightmares"!

If you want to give your brain a workout, this is the book for it. Definitely trickier than your average sudoku book.

I won a free copy of this book in a LibraryThing giveaway. These puzzles are tough. They are likely not for a newbie to Sudoku. The book contains 150 puzzles. The print format is large which helps with legibility as you fill the puzzles out. I've done about 20 so far and will admit to being stuck on a couple of them and had to put them aside to return later to find the missing key to solving them. I think most people will find them to be challenging. ( )

Sudoku Stonkers 2 (2023) by Useful Publishing. Okay, I’m not really certain if this is a reviewable book because when a person thinks of a book review, I believe they are thinking that a book of words is being discussed. Words and sentences and paragraphs and chapters, no matter what the topic or genre, are the usual fodder for a book review.
This is not that by any stretch of the imagination.
I think the word Stonkers is a combination of Stymied and Bonkers. Both apply to these tricky little devils.
Anyway, this book contain 150 Sudoko puzzles, hence there isn’t a lot of reading to be done. On the other hand there is a great amount of thinking that must be accomplished in order to complete the book, or even one puzzle. You say, “But Tom, it is only the numbers one through nine that you have to think about, how hard can it be?”
As hard as Gibraltar as it pans out. There are various levels of Sudoku to be found, usually ranked from one to five stars in order of easy to difficult. These come in at least a 5 if not a 6 or 7 stars. Think of it as getting your amplifier to give you more than the other guys 10.
But this is not a joke. These are categorically among the most difficult Sudoku puzzles I’ve come across. They may be too difficult for many solvers but if you want a challenge in your puzzle life, this is a good outlet for you. ( )

Sudoku Stonkers 2 is a book full of great games in a great format! The puzzles are arranged in varying challenge levels, with plenty of space in which to work. I plan to address more of the puzzles during the holidays, but the book would also be great as a travel companion. It's lovely to have some paper pastimes to fight against the digital hegemony, or to use when there is no access to a signal. ( )
