His characters continue to grow, and even in a new environment, the old story of Robin Hood remains clear and strong. Scarlet is written in a slightly different voice than Hood was - it is told mostly in the first person in the voice of a brand new character to the trilogy - William Scatlocke (or Will Scarlet). The change in voice between books one and two is very noticeable, but not abrasive. It keeps the story refreshing and reminds the reader that it is a story of the people, not just the hero. Scarlet is the second novel in Stephen R. Lawhead's King Raven trilogy - a retelling of the Robin Hood legend. While Hood, the first novel in the trilogy, is told from the perspective of Bran ap Brychan (aka Robin Hood), Scarlet is narrated by Will Scarlet, a native Englishman who joins Bran and his followers in their fight against the Normans. Will proves to be an excellent narrator, one who, despite everything he goes through, keeps his sense of humour. My only disappointment with this book was that it didn't delve into the development of Bran and Marian's relationship. Overall a great read - I'm looking forward to reading Tuck, the conclusion to the trilogy. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
