Oh my god, I can't begin to say how I hate this book and "hate myself" for reading it even more. The poor kid, those parents... HER MONSTER OF A PARENTS... I'm a mom and I can't for the love of god, can't understand how a mother would even take part at damaging her own daughter... I... god I'm so mad. ( ) A true story about a terrible case of child abuse that should never have happened and went unnoticed even though the child in this story, Jodie, was on a high-risk list from social services since birth. She is indeed very damaged by the horrendous things she had to endure. Lots of respect and admiration for the way her foster parent Cathy tries to help her and gives her time and love to this disturbed, unloveable 8 year old girl. I thought I would not have the same courage and patience. And then you begin to understand why she is so unloveable and disturbed, it's heartwrenching. Oh my goodness what a sad story, how any parent could do the things to this little child is beyond belief, I cried through most of this book. The compassion of this wonderful women and the children's understanding was just unbelievable, I guess we know that God puts certain people on this earth to take care of special people and this lady certainly is one of those people. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

The Sunday Times and New York Times Bestseller. Although Jodie is only eight years old, she is violent, aggressive, and has already been through numerous foster families. Her last hope is Cathy Glass... Cathy, an experienced foster carer, is pressured into taking Jodie as a new placement. Jodie's challenging behaviour has seen off five carers in four months but Cathy decides to take her on to protect her from being placed in an institution. Jodie arrives, and her first act is to soil herself, and then wipe it on her face, grinning wickedly. Jodie meets Cathy's teenage children, and greets them with a sharp kick to the shins. That night, Cathy finds Jodie covered in blood, having cut her own wrist, and smeared the blood over her face. As Jodie begins to trust Cathy her behaviour improves. Over time, with childish honesty, she reveals details of her abuse at the hands of her parents and others. It becomes clear that Jodie's parents were involved in a sickening paedophile ring, with neighbours and Social Services not seeing what should have been obvious signs. It's clear that Josie needs psychiatric therapy, but instead Social Services take Jodie away from her, and place her in a residential unit. Although the paedophile ring is investigated and brought to justice, Jodie's future is still up in the air. Cathy promises that she will stand by her no matter what - her love for the abandoned Jodie is unbreakable. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
