Lineage of Grace:

This collection of novellas brings insight into the lives of five women who are named in the lineage of Jesus Christ. These were ordinary women, yet God chose them to accomplish His purpose in history and bring about a greater good than they could have imagined!

The individual novellas are titled: Unveiled (Tamar), Unashamed (Rahab), Unshaken (Ruth), Unspoken (Bathsheba), and Unafraid (Mary).

Tamar’s boldness, determination, and unconditional loyalty to her family; Rahab’s and Ruth’s simple, unshakable faith in the God of Israel despite being foreigners; Bathsheba’s growth in both character and faith in the face of incredible struggles and high stakes; and Mary’s journey to understanding her son’s true purpose on this earth – they all inspire me to live as they did, trusting in God wholeheartedly and striving to do His will in everything.

Always worth a re-read!

Unashamed is the story of Rahab the prostitute and what she did to protect the spies sent from Israel to Jericho. Honestly before reading this rendition of what happened, I hadn't ever really given much thought to either Rahab or her future husband Salmon. But after reading Francine Rivers' portrayal of Rahab's life up to when the spies arrived, what happened when she met them, and what happened thereafter, made it that much more real. I do think that that was what the author intended, so that was definitely an objective met!

One thing that stuck out to me while reading Unashamed is that Rahab had an interest in the Lord. Whether or not that was truly the case, I have to wonder, on account of the fact that she WAS driven by SOMETHING to want to hide the spies and help them. But was it fear? Faith? That's hard to say. But if it really was out of an honest desire to learn more about the God of Israel, it makes the rest of the story make more sense than just what we read about in the Bible. I especially like how at the end of each of the stories in this series, Francine has a study section for personal reflection and how it applies to my life. ( )

It was good. But I enjoyed the one about Tamar more. I am on to Unshaken {Ruth}. I have always loved the story of Ruth. Hopefully this will give me more depth into her story & I will enjoy it just as much if not more so. ( )

What a sweet story! Francine Rivers brings a story to life! Although based on Rahab, I found myself focusing on how much God loves us and how he goes to extremes to rescue us and bless us beyond our wildest dreams. ( )
