For Dave Marsh, rock and roll is thoroughly grafted into the very marrow of his bones. Each song evokes a specific moment, emotion, artifact, or insight. Actually, "evokes" is not the right word, "embodies" is better. The songs have so completely absorbed the moments of Mr. Marsh's life that they seem to constitute a virtual spiritual autobiography. The author is quite unembarrassed about all this, even if the reader occasionally has to look away. (

Great book about the significance of popmusic starting from the Fifties 'till the late 80's.Full of personal opinions, memories and knowledge of the start and history of Rock & Soul Music.The strength of the book lies in the combination of deep knowledge and deep personal involvement. (
