This book is available to read in Chinese, English, Finnish, German, Italian, Portuguese and Danish. I looked at the Danish version. In English the title of this book is: “The Boasting Battle” but because of the illustrations one does not need to rely on words to get the gist of the message in the book. The two main characters are a lion and a large snake. The book begins with telling/showing each of them daydreaming in a state of self-aggrandizement. The two of them start to brag about their own individual qualities and thus they begin a debate about who is better. This leads to them getting caught in a trap due to the distraction of their competitiveness. While they are trapped, they ponder how they will escape and eventually come up with a plan that uses each of their strengths. After they escape they become fast friends and have come to see that each of them is valuable in their own special way. The illustrations are effective enough to tell the story by themselves. The chubby, stuffed animal quality of the characters would be most appealing to young children up to about age eight. The text would clearly add depth to their charming anthropomorphic shenanigans.
