My main problem is the central conceit of this series -- intelligent, talking cats that interact with their human companions. I'm betting that if you can get past that outrageous premise, you'd probably enjoy this light mystery. Unfortunately, I never did get past that roadblock, so this was more an exercise in "getting to the end of the book so I can discuss it with the group." I think I'll leave this series to the real fans. I didn't hate it, but I won't be reading any more Joel Grey novels! Joe Grey and Dulcie, two felines with unusual talents, think so. What gets the investigation in gear is the death of a waiter during an art reception for Charlie Harper. The two cats notice that the Dark One is lurking. There is also the matter of the handsome philanderer and a stalker and how they tie in to it all.
When Azrael is around, there is an evil atmosphere and the definite possibility of something bad happening. This was a feeling that came up while reading the book when I read the scenes involving this character. A bit spooky, I'd say.
This may be cozy in some aspects, but I'd say there is a good dose of suspense too. (
