I chose to read this book because as a child I loved reading the Babysitter’s Club series books. While they are very dated, I still think they are a great series for young children. This book in particular was one I really enjoyed. The plot was interesting and funny and the characters were very well developed. The plot focused on how the main character, Karen Brewer, started a chain letter project in her second grade class at school. The class began to collect stamps and write postcards to pen pals all over the country. I thought this storyline was very interesting and informative, however it may not be good for young readers today. Since it is so dated, young reader might not understand it since chain letters do not really exist anymore. Despite the possibly confusing topic for children, I thought the plot was very interesting. My favorite part however was definitely the character development. The story began with a chapter with background information about Karen. Throughout the course of the story, the author continues to give details about Karen and other characters such as Nancy and Hannie. Martin did an amazing job of creating characters that young children can really relate too and developing these characters as the book went on. The main idea of this story was that following adult’s direction is very important and disobeying adults can get you into big trouble and danger. This book was very cute and great for readers, just a little bit too old for today’s readers. ( ) keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
