Evolutionary Witchcraft is a wonderful book and one of the few books out there with information about the Feri Tradition of Witchcraft as it comes down from Cora and Victor Anderson. With the passing of Cora a coupe of years ago this book provides an insight into a tradition and insights from one of the founders that will never be heard of again.
As one reviewer mentioned this is a workbook it is about study and devotion. Coyle has taken what has traditional been an oral tradition and provided helpful and insightful information on some of Feri's more esoteric traditions such as the Black Heart, and the Pentacle of Iron. ( )

Many reviews of this book talk mention repetition and poor writing, but this is not a book to simply curl up with and read. It is a workbook, and is meant to be used. She features practices and meditations, and encourages all of us to be "more human" - develop a strong character through commitment and honor, and to take our "more human" selves out into the world and make it a better place. This is one of the very few books I've read in the past few years that has truly given me a lot to ponder. Most books I read that fall into that category are either outside the Witchcraft genre or are historical in nature. Evolutionary Witchcraft is mostly based upon Feri Tradition, though the author states that she has studied several paths and traditions. The book is filled with interesting exercises that build on the subject matter and these exercises are varied. There are meditations, dances, journaling, divination, conscious living exercises and more. A common criticism I've seen of the book is that T. Thorn Coyle is not the best writer and that is true, but what she has to say is fresh, vibrant and full of truth and so I can not fault her for sometimes repeating herself and not always saying what she needs to say in the best possible way. She always makes her point in a way the reader can understand.

The book covers each of the four elements plus above, below and center. Each chapter includes the tools of that direction, guardians, deities, exercises to experience the nature of the direction as well as commentary on the essence of it's mysteries.

I didn't necessarily find everything in the book helpful or agreeable, but the information was truly enjoyable. Much of what the author had to say was a bit of a different approach from the standard book on witchcraft. There are other books that touch upon some of this material, but none in quite this way. It's a thoroughly intriguing read. ( )

Lovved this book! Her passion for magick and deity is electifying. Excellent exercises, and a solid introduction to the faery tradition. ( )
