There are two people in Nick's hot tub. One is Nick's wife. The other is his former best friend. They are very naked -- and very dead. Some of the cops think the killer is someone very close to Nick. The others are sure the killer is Nick.Where's a good alibi when you need it?

Disjointed. I didn’t really like anyone in it. The motive for murdering Sharon and Perry is still weak and unclear. Apparently, Perry is into taping people when they don’t know and peddling those tapes among some sickos in the area. One night while he’s taping this guy, he gets murdered. The tape is inconclusive though. ‘Doc’ could be dead, or not.

Doc apparently ripped off his biker buddies to the tune of $9,000,000. The money was to pay a debt back to some people even worse than the biker guys. The man who needs to find Doc to get the money for these people is called The Blue Angel. He has this weird name for a couple of reasons, 1, he always wears blue. 2. he looks like an angel and 3. he was kicked out of the Navy for psychological reasons and he had to abandon his career as a pilot. This guy is like a lot of other psychos/sociopaths we’ve met in the past. He’s gorgeous and revels in the fact that it masks his true self. He is unbelievably strong and physically superior to everyone. He is super intelligent and is an expert in spying, fighting, money laundering, theft etc…

So apparently, the guy Doc, who is supposed to be dead isn’t (of course) and he is the one who kills Sharon and Perry. Why, I’m not exactly sure. The tape is inconclusive. But Doc sets up his biker buddies for the crime by wearing a certain jacket with unique fibers. The gang shows up at Nicks house and beats the crap out of Thorpe the investigating detective when he shows up. Then in a truly unbelievable scene, Nick and Alison escape their bonds and she ends up shooting one guy and the rest run away. Ugh.

All this time, Nick and Alison have become romantically attached and are screwing pretty much any chance they get. So much for true love. I guess Nick feels justified because it turns out that Sharon was getting ready to divorce him but he didn’t know. Plus she was in the hot tub with Perry.

In the end, the Angel gets to Doc (through the use of wiretaps on Nick’s phone) and takes him out. The whole presence of the Angel was completely weird and took away from the attention on Nick. I think it was a ruse to make us think that The Angel killed Perry and Sharon, but I never fell for it.

Strange circumstances combine to produce the death of one man's wife along with a friend of his who were naked in a hot tub together while he and his friend's girl-friend were off together getting into a nasty car accident. This was not a very good mystery nor was it written very well. Besides that there wasn't one single likable character in the bunch. If you're looking for a good novel of suspense or a good mystery, definitely pass this one up. ( )

This was very painful to read. Quite frankly, I didn't care if both the husband and the model type died when they were in the car accident, and I didn't care if either of them were hauled off to jail for a murder they may or may not have committed. ( )
