This book is about Shyne Blackwood, a triplet, who is born into a life of poverty and tragedy. He has to fight to stay alive from the beginning and grows up in the tough streets of Brooklyn. His path veers in the opposite direction of his brothers caused by his mother's hatred. He is portrayed as many of the negative stereotypes associated with black men in today's society. He is a street hustler who is convicted of the vicious rape and murder of an ex-girlfriend and her three year old daughter. He now sits on death row waiting his execution. The story is told through six characters who recount his unthinkable life and the events that lead up to his execution. The reader deciphers the truth as they continue with the story hoping for exoneration. The truth of the crime finally emerges but has real justice been served?

Wonderful book of love, loyalty, crime and betrayal!! Raw style written with grace and passion!! A must read!!

I chose this book from the staff picks shelf at my local library and was riveted, captivated and transplanted into another world!! A truly moving tale that I am so glad to have experienced!! ( )
