Two entomologists have spent their entire careers in bitter animosity, competing viciously for precedence in their specific field. When one of them dies (driven to his death by the feud?) the survivor is haunted by the deceased, in the form of a moth that no one else can see. It’s a horror story with a psychological aspect – but it also deftly skewers academic debates over minutiae that the general public neither understands nor is even aware of. Reminded me a bit of Gahan Wilson’s 1972 story, [inkspot] – but without the clearly humorous aspect. ( ) keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
Probably you have heard of Hapley--not W. T. Hapley, the son, but the celebrated Hapley, the Hapley of Periplaneta Hapliia, Hapley the entomologist. If so you know at least of the great feud between Hapley and Professor Pawkins, though certain of its consequences may be new to you. For those who have not, a word or two of explanation is necessary, which the idle reader may go over with a glancing eye, if his indolence so incline him. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
