This book is about three little pigs who live in a house with a lot of other pigs so they decide to move and build their own houses. Throughout the story, they hear a mysterious Voice. The big bad wolf tries to blow down one of the pig's house but couldn't because someone knocked over juice and made the pig's straw house soggy and the pig got away. Then the wolf tries to knock down the the second pig's house but the pigs slammed the door on his nose so The Voice has to fix it and the pigs get away. Finally, the third pig shares that The Voice is the illustrator. The illustrator runs out of red paint so he starts painting the pigs different colors and patterns. In the end, the big bad wolf comes back to get the pigs but the illustrator changes them into Goldilocks and the three bears because the pigs don't want to be in the story anymore. ( ) I'm a sucker for funny picture-books where the author is a character. This was almost as delightful as Mélanie Watt's Chester. I discovered Whatley because he's illustrated some by Jackie French and they're a great team. This isn't a meaningful variant of the classic fairy-tale, but kudos to Whatley for making me laugh out loud! This is an adorable book! The story begins like the well-known "three little pigs and the big bad wolf" story, but takes a humorous turn when the Illustrator runs out of red paint to color the pigs with. The rest of the book follows the silly interactions between the Illustrator and the pigs. This would be a great book to use when talking about how authors and narrators and illustrators play a part in stories. FANTASY: In this book, the characters drawn by the Illustrator can talk! The pigs act like people, and the fake story world can interact with the real human world. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
