Ruwenda ist eine Welt, die zunächst wie eine "normale" Fantasy-Welt daherkommt, mit einer dem Mittelalter angelehnten, feudalen Gesellschaft, etwas Magie, verschiedene Rassen intelligenter Humanoider. Doch Ruwenda war mal hoch technisiert, und die Artefakte aus der Zeit spielen in den vier Bänden dann eine Rolle.
Der Magie der "Schwarzen Lilie" (engl. Trillium), die von den Drillings-Prinzessinnen gewirkt werden kann, steht die Magie des Magiers Orogastus gegenüber, der sich auch der mächtigen Artefakte bedient, die in Ruwenda zu finden sind.
Mit dem vierten Band schien Orogastus besiegt, und jede der drei Prinzessinen Kadiya, Anigel und Haramis hatte ihre Aufgabe gefunden, als Kriegerin, Königin oder Erzmagierin des Landes. Doch die Welt von Ruwenda war noch nicht wieder in der Balance, eine ökologische Katastrophe drohte.
Hier setzt dann der fünfte Band an - Orogastus war nicht tot, sondern durch den Magier des Himmels in die künstlichen Monde von Ruwenda geholt worden. Und da die drei Prinzessinnen die Balance der Welt nicht wieder hergestellt hatten, soll es Orogastus nun richten. Obwohl in Haramis verliebt, bediente sich Orogastus der alten Strategien - Gewalt und Unterdrückung - um zu seinem Ziel zu kommen. Und die Prinzessinen wollen sich wieder gemeinsam gegen ihn stellen, haben aber nicht mehr die Kräfte wie im ersten Kampf, da von den drei Artefakten nur noch das von Haramis funktioniert. Recht früh im Roman stellen sich diesmal aber auch Zweifel ein, ob Orogastus nicht vielleicht doch ein Ziel verfolgt, dass im Sinne der Welt wäre.
Mir hat gefallen, dass ich, trotz des großen zeitlichen Abstands, schnell wieder in die Welt von Ruwenda eingetaucht bin (was für die einprägsame Welt- und Charakterentwicklung in den ersten Bänden spricht). Gut hat mir auch gefallen, dass dieser Abschlussband von den Zwischentönen lebt, was sich anfangs als Abschlusskampf zwischen "Gut" und "Böse" darstellt, entwickelt sich im Laufe der Geschichte weiter. Abzüge gibt es für das doch recht geruhsame Erzähltempo und den Sprachstil, den ich hier als nicht sehr eingängig, fast etwas veraltet, wahrgenommen habe.
Als Einzelband würde ich "Sky Trillium" daher nicht empfehlen, als Reihen-Abschluss hat er mir insgesamt aber gefallen. ( )
