The conclusion to the delightful series set in a London townhouse, from the New York Times–bestselling author!

The house at 67 Clarges Street in fashionable Mayfair has seen many guests, all looked after by the quirky staff of servants. When the house's owner, the Duke of Pelham, finally returns, he is grimly determined to find a suitable wife—but completely unprepared for what the season has to offer. The duke's title alone has always brought him more than his share of feminine attention, and while he claims not to believe in love, he has never been spurned by a lady.

The duke's self-imposed search is soon disrupted by the arrival in London of Miss Jenny Sutherland, a spoiled but beautiful country girl whose vanity is her tragic flaw. According to her guardian Aunt Letitia, lack of competition has made Jenny put on airs; in London, she will get the set-down she sorely deserves. Indeed, at her first important London party, Jenny's blatant disdain for the duke leads to disaster.

But no one has counted on the intervention of John Rainbird, the shrewd and resourceful butler at 67 Clarges Street. The result is a mischievous scheme that will insure Jenny's social success and determine the fate of the close-knit family of servants at 67 Clarges Street . . .

It was great to find out what happened to all the servants of the house in the end. Overall I enjoyed the series though the romance aspects weren’t that strong. ( )

Miss Jenny Sutherland is vain and has never been exposed to London Society, when she meets the Duke of Pelham he is appalled how disrespectful she is to people around her and suggests that she should be exposed to the experience of London for a while to knock some sense into her, little does he realise that this cascade is going to change his life.

Meanwhile in the London house he intends to stay, one of his properties in London, his servants are revolting, their wages have been garnished by his agent and they are determined to get out from under him and get a fair wage for their work.

When Jenny meets the servants everything is up for change.

It's pretty predictable, but not a bad read. Light fluff. ( )

And so, we now come to the final book in the "A House for the Season" series.

The staff of 67 Clarges Street have saved enough money to realize their plan of independence: they are now able buy an inn, and escape the life of being servants...but do they still want that long-held dream?

And upstairs, the owner has taken up residence, forcing the dishonest manager Palmer to make decisions about his future.

As in the other books of this series, we have an amusing story of romance and redemption, but with more emphasis on the servants, which I liked. Each has to reexamine what they want for their future...and some of their choices may surprise the reader.

I wish this series didn't have to end...I will miss Angus and Dave and the rest, but especially Lizzie and Rainbird.

Very good conclusion to this, my favorite Marion Chesney series. ( )
