Many Christians think of end times prophecy as a gigantic, intimidating puzzle -- difficult to piece together and impossible to figure out. But every puzzle can be solved if you approach it the right way. Paul Benware compares prophecy to a picture puzzle. Putting the edge pieces together first builds the 'framework' that makes it easier to fit the other pieces in their place. According to Benware, the framework for eschatology is the biblical covenants. He begins his comprehensive survey by explaining the major covenants. Then he discusses several different interpretations of end times prophecy. Benware digs into the details of the Rapture, the Great Tribulation, the judgements and resurrections, and the millennial kingdom. But he also adds a unique, personal element to the study, answering questions as:-Why study bible prophecy?-What difference does it make if I'm premillenial or amillenial? If what the Bible says about the future puzzles you, Understanding End Times Prophecy will help you put together the pieces and see the big picture.… (mehr)

Pre-mil, pre-trib unpacking of eschatology
  GSHale | Apr 18, 2019 |
Those who live with an awareness of the coming kingdom of God, with its joys and rewards, think differently regarding the use of their time, money, and resources. The goals and purposes of life are often altered by an understanding of future realities. Prophecy can assist us in making better choices in the present as it reminds us of things that have eternal value.

Well argued, systematic, good diagrams, sticks often to the heart of the issue: hermeneutics. Great book.

This is an excellent introductory book to end time prophecy. I say introductory book, because at the beginning of many chapters, he says something like, "The scope of this book does not allow for a full discussion, but the main points will be discussed." Indeed. Each chapter in this book can easily itself be an entire book.

This is a very bold title for a book, but I think that it fulfilled what it promised. I remember one thing that John MacArthur said this past Shepherd's Conference, "Get your hermeneutics right, and you'll get the covenants right. Get the covenants right, and you'll get Israel right. Get Israel right and you'll get eschatology right." At the time I did not understand that statement (though it did seem very insightful!), but this book has illuminated the truth behind such a statement.

This book has helped me to believe very firmly in the view that I held at the outset: premillennial coming, pretribulational rapture. I now not only hold to this interpretation of prophecy but am more convinced of its consistency. I was impressed over and over again with the fundamental importance of the question, "Are Israel and the church different?" Having just finished studying Ephesians, I was encouraged to the implications of this difference I discovered to be taught there.

At any rate. I think this book is very fair to the other views and quotes from their authors. He presents their views in terms that I think they would agree with, and then demonstrates where the problems are, and the nature of the problems.
