This book would be good for elementary grades. It is about Babymouse trying to find a date to the dance but failing. I would use this as an option for a book project or a free read.

Babymouse is an early intermediate level series that tells tales about a mouse. In this story, babymouse has boys in a frenzy swooning over her. I would keep this in my classroom for intermediate students because the text is fairly simple, however, it is long and the layout is more advanced.

I think this graphic novel would be good for mid-elementary students who want a break from thick novels and want something humourous and visual. In the graphic novel, Babymouse realizes that valentines day is right around the corner and is trying to fall in love and get a date for the Valentine's day school dance. ( )

Babymouse is not a fan of anything relating to romance. But she loves sweets so she does like Valentine's day she just was unaware it involved romance and with the school dance coming up she is nervous about getting a dance partner. Babymouse asks every boy in school if they want to be her date, but they all have dates. The day comes around and Babymouse does not have a date. She is nervous and hesitant to be at the dance. But when she gets there her friend George compliments her and ask her to dance. This is a great book for children who are in the younger grade levels to any grade level to read because they will be able to make a personal connection with it. Often times school dances can be nerve-wracking because the last thing you want to do is to go alone, but in this case, Babymouse ends up having a blast. I would use this book during Language Arts along with an educational activity. ( )

A school dance for Valentine's Day? Does Babymouse have to find a date? Her attempts to find someone who likes her while the illustrator provides the clues to who her Valentine could be makes for a very cute read. Encourages readers to look beyond the obvious. ( )
