A story with two parts to it. Part one is called "Inklings" and part two in the book is called "Intentions". I loved the cover of this book, but must admit, before starting it I felt is might be a little hard for me to get into and enjoy. How wrong I was! If you love C.S. Lewis or a fan of J.R.R. Tolkien then you will probably enjoy reading a story that involves both these authors is some ways. If you are a romantic at heart, you will love the story and if you love history and getting to no more about the ways of Oxford University in the 1960s then this is a story for you. It is a story of "passion and purity under the dreaming spires of Oxford" as the back cover states.

American Kate Hughes has come across the water to be a student at Oxford University and is in for an adventure of her life. She has a fellow student, Lord Stuart Devereux who is trying to woo her, and has also caught the eye of her tutor, David MacKenzie, a handsome professor and leader of the Inklings Society (which you will learn a lot about by reading this book). These two gentlemen will woo Katie, but in two very different ways. I was wrapped up in the setting of this book and in the characters and loved the charm and chivalry of one young gentleman and his desire to do things the godly way. It was refreshing and romantic and I look forward to reading the next book in this series, "Expectations". Cheerio! ( )

Isn't it refreshing to find a book which does not glorify promiscuity, which actually advocates sweetness and love? There are other books, like On Chesil Beach, for instance, which contain sexual references and are, indeed, also worthy of praise for their thoughtfulness and writing. However, this is the only book I've read that eschews the modern seemingly requisite trashiness that's found so often in novels.

The writing here is a bit amateurish, but what do I care? It's a great idea for a story sweetly done.

I actually found some of the writing humorous where it wasn't meant to be. And it could use some pizazz in its structure and sentence construction. However, the concept is so great - an American goes to Oxford University, meets a new Inklings group, and falls in love - that the writing can be forgiven and a reader can be thankful the book somehow made it into print given today's stinky narrative/content standards ( )

A pretty good book, taking the reader back to nineteen fifty Oxford just after the breakup of the infamous Inklings. It is also a romance. May seem a little preachy at times. ( )

Fantastic. All three of this series was incredible, I have read them more than once. Especially for Lewis fans. I didn't want the series to end. ( )
