I'm not entirely sure why I bothered to finish this. The characters had an irritating penchant for rediscovering conclusions they'd already come to, and an equally irritating tendency toward discarding their reasonable trust in one another whenever the plot required it of them. I rather liked the hero and heroine; I just wish they'd behaved more sensibly...and less as though they were afflicted by some terrible prion disease. ( )

I only have myself to blame that I picked up A Christmas Wedding Wager by Michelle Styles, and again, only myself to blame for continuing to read through to the end. I was hoping for a light, festive read set in Victorian times, but this book never really explored that aspect. Starting our as a story of a romance rekindled after interfering parties separated them seven years ago, the author went over the top by including a dastardly villain and a ridiculous kidnapping plot. The best part of this book was when I could finally close it and breath a sigh of relief that I had finished it.
