This book, Del Rey's newest Star Wars "essential guide", covers the history, philosophies, and techniques of the Force. Star Wars history, especially that of the Jedi, has always fascinated me, and this book certainly does not fail to deliver on that account. Most of the book is in the form of entries by various characters: most fascinatingly, there's a section narrated by Emperor Palpatine himself, and how great is it that Lando Calrissian's autobiography is called How to Succeed in Everything? And of course, the artwork by Tommy Lee Edwards and Chris Trevas is gorgeous. Though, one wonders why I bothered buying the book; within ten minutes of its publication, all of the information and pictures were up on Wookieepeida. A book written in-character as discussions of the history of the Jedi and the Sith from a perspective set in the days of the New Jedi Order, several decades after Return of the Jedi. It covers the deep history of the Jedi and the tales seen in comics and video games, set thousands of years before the movies, as well as much of the activity set after the movies. There are details of a number of Force powers and other groups, and some good perspectives on the Dark Side; this is well worthwhile for any game master or writer working in the Star Wars universe. The book has an index, but lacks a bibliography; you need to hit Wookieepedia if you want to figure out which books tell the tales of a particular event depicted here. The writing is generally good, with a few stumbles here and there as the author tries to find the voice for a particular character. Zeige 2 von 2 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
