On page 51 he uses the word "anarchist" in a manner I approve of. THEN, on page 58, he describes a Mark Boyle photograph in a character's foyer. Mark Boyle's an English artist who did light shows for The Soft Machine & other very interesting things. Very few people seem to know who he is. That sort of detail in a bk perks my little mind right up. ( ) My reading of Dreaming Dragons suffered from too many interruptions. This is one whose focus is not at first clear. Is this a fantasy novel, as the cover suggests, a mythic exploration, an Aboriginal dream come to life? Is it hard science, social science, psychology? It is a complex story written in sections in which the writing becomes at times pretty opaque, but it is in service of the story, not just there for the experiment. Hang in and you will be rewarded. Selected as one of the top 100 science fiction novels of the century! Updated and revised edition of award-winner The Dreaming Dragons. An anthropologist travels to the central Australian desert to search for the source of an aboriginal myth; he suspects the terrible "Rainbow Serpent" is connected to the sacred Uluru rock formations. The holographic "Gate" he discovers with his nephew explains not just the origin of a legend, but the origin of man, and the true fate of the dinosaurs. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
