This was a pretty quick read. Even though I found it quite predictable and there were a few unnecessary storylines, I still enjoyed the book. I would definitely read another book by this author. ( )

Olsen's thrillers are page-turning and twisting escapes, and this one was no different. With believable, flawed characters and enough complexity to make it feel real, this is one of those books that spins by in a flood of drama, action, and suspense. And even where there are some small bits that felt, at times, predictable, they were enmeshed in such a full picture that, all told, I really didn't mind.

There's no doubt in my mind that I'll pick up the next in the Emily Kenyon series fairly soon. Absolutely, recommended. ( )

From Amazon:

In a secluded farm house in the Pacific Northwest, a family has been slaughtered--and a teenage son has disappeared. Single mother and cop, Emily Kenyon spearheads a dark hunt for a killer. But Emily's teenage daughter Jenna is one step ahead of her...

Are Planted In...

Jenna knows the boy suspected of murdering his family and wants to help him--perhaps too much. Then within days of the first murder, another family is butchered, this time in Iowa. And on the heels of this brutal slaying, another follows in Salt Lake City. Eerie similarities link the crime scenes. But an even darker connection threatens to claim even more victims. As Emily fits the puzzle pieces together, she realizes the danger surrounding her daughter is worse than she'd imagined. Now in a desperate race to save Jenna, Emily must match wits with the most cunning, diabolical killer she's faced yet in her career--a killer who's just placed her and her daughter at the top of his list.

My Thoughts:

I had high hopes for this book but somehow...even though the story was well thought out...the characters just seem to feel flat. I usually love reading books by this author but this one seemed to go on and on. Conversations between the characters were drawn out needlessly and their actions were sometimes stupid and uncalled for. So...in light of this I have to say that this one was just okay....it didn't grab you like his others. 3 stars ( )

I like the overall story, but found Emily a weak character, especially as the female lead and a cop. ( )

I only put this book down to close my eyes when the toothpicks refused to hold them open any further. For me, it was that good. I loved it. ( )
