2.5 stars. Having loved the characters, heart, and humor in some of Peck's books (_A Long Way from Chicago_, _On the Wings of Heroes_, etc), I thought this book would provide some of the same. It didn't quite deliver. It was a fair story, but the characters didn't have the depth I was hoping for. ( )

Buck, Kate and Trav are best of friends in high school. Buck lives with his divorced dad, Kate looks after her great-grandmother Polly, and Trav is a tortured soul from a wealthy family. Trav worries far too much about school and what he needs to learn to make it to a good college. Buck and Kate try to be there for him but even they don't know how troubled Trav is until he commits suicide.

Remembering the Good Times by Richard Peck is about a friendship between three teenagers, Buck,Kate and Trav. They are are remembering all the good times they spent together before Trav commits suicide.
I would suggest this book to high schoolers. I thought this was a great book in which we could relate. We all want to remember the good times with our friends when we are down. ( )

Buck, Kate and Trav have been good friends for years, now they are 16. Told from Buck's point of view, this book shows Trav's mental deterioration which results in his suicide. Kate and Buck are devastated and can't grieve and let go. In a public meeting, to get to the reason for Trav's suicide, Buck finally brakes down.
