"Caddie the Golf Dog" by Bill Martin Jr. is a story about a dog and her life. Caddie originally belonged to a little girl who named her diamond because of the white diamond shape on her forehead. The dog ran away one stormy night and wondered upon a gulf corse. A family went golfing one day and was impressed with the stray dog for getting their golf balls like a caddie. The family reported the dog to the office and when no one claimed her, they were able to keep her name her Caddie. Caddie was a great dog to the new family. The family loved taking her to the golf corse and spending time with her. One day, Caddie was missing and the boys looked everywhere for her. When the found her in the woods, she was laying by a tree with her new born puppies. The boys were excited and did everything they could to help Caddie take care of her puppies. Once the puppies were big enough, the family put an add in the paper for free puppies. The original owners of the dog, Diamond now renamed Caddie, saw the add and decided to get a puppy. Once they arrived to the house, they recognized their dog Diamond, and decided to let Diamond chose who she wants to stay with. The dog chose her new family with the boys because she remembered all of the help and love they gave her when she had her puppies. Although the old family, lost their dog Diamond, they were able to keep Diamond's puppy that looked like her and also had a diamond shape on its forehead. In the end, everyone was happy because they all had a dog that they wanted. The boys got to keep their dog Caddie, and the girl was able to get Caddie's puppy which she named after her old dog, Diamond. I enjoyed the book's ending and how the original owner of Caddie, ended up with one of her puppies that looked almost exactly like her. Themes in this book that I found important were acceptance, love, and family. The first family of Caddie had to accept that their dog found a better home. The second family loved their dog and took care of Caddie, showed her love and made her part of the family which is why she chose to stay with them. ( ) keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
