"The Tribes of Britain" is a history of the British Isles written from the point of view of the migrations into the country that have changed the character of the population and the culture. It is a comprehensive history with useful insights but it was hyped as being based on new scientific techniques that have uncovered the complex genetic makeup of the UK. Because of this I expected a more scientific approach involving DNA studies. Instead the author outlined the various peoples who have come to British lands through the millennia to create the multicultural population of today. It was interesting but there was not much information that someone with a good knowledge of UK history wouldn’t have known already.
