I love this book. Its chief emotion is an elegiac sadness for a bygone lifestyle and many bygone buildings - though some of the mansions still stand today (many repurposed). If you're looking for exact locations of the mansions you won't find them here, but you can find them with some online detective work. ( )

Brief history of some of the mansions of Long Island's "Gold Coast". Numerous photos - many dating back to the '20s, '30, and '40s. Though the book is an interesting historical record, it is missing technical and more description information such as the specific location of each mansion and some type of time line from architecture to building to current provenance.
