Jan wakes up on a train with no memory except his name and the need to escape some men in a white van. On the carriage is Ginny, a blind girl who senses something is wrong and offers to help. What unfolds is a quirky story of mystery and suspense where Jan quickly discovers that Ginny and her family are the keepers of secret supernatural talents. Ginny and her 5 year old brother Otis can talk telepathically and Ginny can "see" in the dark. Together with Ginny's famous psychiatrist aunt and uncle they set out to find what is going on. ( ) Pretty much all of Key's stories - youngster with strange powers and no knowledge of who/what he is finds friends and figures things out. This one's one of the better ones - the story is reasonable (with the given assumptions). Though I thought it was pretty obvious who Jan was early on, and it took them forever to figure it out. The villains get an appropriate comeuppance. And I loved the compound - why shouldn't they live as they please? I may reread this one, in a few years, and I'll definitely read more Alexander Key.
