"Off We Go" tells the story of different animals making their way to theirs grandmother's houses. The text is in a rhyming pattern which not only creates a fun rhythm in which to tell the story, but can catch the attention of the children that read it. I also enjoyed that the author gave details of each animal, and how they would go to grandma's (Ex: "slither slee... round the tree"). Each page reveals a new animal, and the art of each animal represents the setting in which they live, such as spiders sitting on their webs. The painting of the animals do not use concise lines, but rather is a bit choppy. The illustrator gave a whimsical feel added to the excitement of reading about these animals running off to see their grandmothers. ( )

This is an easy and fun rhyming story to read with younger students. The animals make their sound in search for each of their grandmothers' houses. The story is very interactive and children would be easily engaged while reading it. Easy to read, lots of repetition and fluency practice through this story. ( )

This book illustrates both repetitive and rhyming schemes. The words in the story are not difficult to read, but it still allows the reader to expand their vocabulary. While reading this book a young reader can learn about different animals and the noises they make while in motion. There are five different animals all wanting to go to their grandmothers' house. On the way there they either crawl, tip-toe, or slither their way there because they all just think that grandmothers' house is the best place to be. I feel as if kids can relate to the animals wanting to be at their grandmother's house because most kids adore being with their grandparents. I was definitely one of those kids. ( )

A baby mouse, frog, snake, and mole are all on there way to Grandma's house, because Grandma's house is, "always best." This book uses poetry and gives each animal there own sounds. The frog is given, "hip-hop, hippity hop, the mole is "dig-deep, diggity deep, the mouse is given, "tip-toe, tippity toe, and the snake is given, "slither-slee, slithery slee. These animals are all on the run, because they are just so excited to go to their own Grandmother's house. This is a very easy book, that I would read to very young children. This book will help young children understand which animals do what and of course I'm sure a grandmother would love to read it. ( )
