Overall, I felt this was interesting biography that was fitting for the age is was developed for. First thing I enjoyed was the author’s diction and organization for the pages. The wording one each page was moved around so the book didn’t have a repetitive feel towards it. Also, I enjoyed how after any difficult word, the author put the phonetic sounds of the letters in parenthesis to help the readers. The second thing that I enjoyed about the story was “Words You Know” section at the end of the book. This section reviewed the difficult words that the reader had learned throughout the book. This can also aid students into remembering what the important parts of the biography were. The third thing that I enjoyed about the book were the illustrations used by the author. The author used a good mix of color and black and white paintings to really convey the historical figure that Paul Revere was. My favorite illustration was the one with Revere riding a horse through town during his famous ride to alert the town that the British were coming. In the end, I felt that main idea of the biography was to explain to children the importance of Paul Revere with regards to American history.
