The basic argument of The Triumph of God over Evil depends firstly on possible worlds to show that the morally superior world is one containing both autonomous creatures and an autonomous natural order, and secondly on the theological foundation of Open Theism which explains that, given moral superiority of created autonomy, God is, in effect, morally obligated to be (voluntarily) less than God. Due to the difficulties of theologizing in terms of possible worlds, and since Open Theism is itself fundamentally aberrant, there is little to commend this volume in the already flooded market of contemporary texts on the problem of evil. Noted philosopher William Hasker explores a full range of issues concerning the problem of evil. Having taken account of the current state of the discussion and squarely facing some of the most trenchant arguments marshaled by John K. Roth and D. Z. Phillips, Hasker forges a constructive answer in some depth showing why the evil in the world does not provide evidence of a moral fault in God, the world's creator and governor. A fresh and provocative contribution to the ongoing discussion of theodicy. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
