Emma is told her by her father that her new baby brother has Down syndrome. She can tell her dad is concerned and she wonders about what the future has in store. After a good talk with her dad, they both realize Isaac will be able to do everything any other child can do. I think Emma helped her father just as much as he helped her. I really like this book because we don't always look at a child with a disabilities siblings. A lot of the time they will be too young to fully understand what happened. Depending what the disability is it can be very hard on brothers and/or sisters too. ( ) This is a story about a girl who is waiting for her baby brother's arrival into the world. She talks to her dad about all the things she could do with her baby brother, but then finds out her brother has down syndrome. She then begins to think that she will not be able to do all the things she wanted to with her brother, but her dad said that she will. This story teaches children that no matter the exceptionality, the possibilities for adventures are endless. All that is needed is patience, kindness, and love. In this picture book a little girl describes the negative feelings that she has when she first learns that she is going to have a little brother or sister. After a conversation with her father she realizes that the sibling would be able to do many fun things with her and she decides that it would be ok to have a brother or sister. When the baby is born the father, who is at first sad, tells her that the baby boy, Isaac, has Down syndrome. As the little girl asks the father questions about what they will be able to do together the girl and her father realize that Isaac, with a little love and understanding, can do everything that they had planned. What a delightful read that very sweetly discusses that although born with Down syndrome a person is capable of doing everything that a typical person can do. the child in this story is expecting a baby brother. after the child is born with down syndrome, the big sibling is disappointed because she is afraid she will not be able to do all of the things she planned too. this story ends with the older child understanding that her little brother can be just as fun. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
