A biography of the poet Kahlil Gibran, written by his cousin and namesake along with the cousins wife. This was a fascinating biography of one of my favorite writers, as well as a great presentation of an immigrant in America at the turn of the 19th century. The authors had access to manuscripts, letters, and drawings, and they have written an account based mainly on the diaries and correspondence of Mary Haskell, Gibran's friend and companion for many years. Gibran spent his life caught between his Arabic background and the American life he wanted to have, without losing himself in the process. Well worth the size.
