Keine aktuelle Diskussion zu diesem Buch. science picture book. engaging photos and informational text about a lesser-known (but still deadly!) predator. Read this one (paraphrasing some of the text to make it shorter) to a mixed-grade (2nd-6th) afterschool center--about 6-8 of the kids were really interested; the rest of the kids were fairly well engaged and thinking about the questions I posed to them throughout the reading (and we all wanted to see the wolfsnail find and devour its prey.) So not a super duper crowd pleaser like some of the raucously funny picture books out there, but an interesting STEM-y book that can be shared to encourage quieter reflection. ( ) Wolfsnails is an informative book about wolf snails; it is also an honor winner of the Theodor Seuss Geisel Award. The book is all factual information but the text is set up as more of a story than a textbook, “Today, it is time to wake up and find food. Water seeps into an opening in the shell. The snail begins to move.” The text and pictures are symmetrical, each picture shows exactly what the text is saying. The pictures are very interesting, they are close ups of the wolf snail, there are even pictures of the wolf snail hunting and eating other snails. The pictures are framed by a white boarder, which gives the book a clean, and simple look, which I believe is needed for an informative book. The last few pages also give facts about the wolf snail, such as what their scientific name is, where they live, what they eat, etc. This book could be used in any type of classroom that is learning about snails, or other creatures. I even found this book very interesting, I never knew anything about wolf snails but now I do! This beautifully photographed book is both interesting and informative. As a bonus, there are photos of this carnivorous snail actually eating other snails- sure to please the bloodthirsty pre-school crowd. Clear, easy-to-read (or read aloud) text, and again- the photos are excellent. Highly recommended for kids of a naturalistic bent. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
