First, I liked the language in the book. The language is descriptive and helps the audience envision Christmastime and the surrounding environment. The poet uses ample detail to describe the setting in the poe, "Christmas Eve". For example, the poet writes, "On a winter night, when the moon is low, the rabbits hop on the frozen snow. The woodpecker sleeps in his hole in the tree, and fast asleep is the chickadee" (p. 19). This descriptive language provides the audience with the chance to imagine the outside world and all the animals resting. The use of descriptive language helps the audience imagine what the author intends and provides details to help the audience visualize Christmas Eve in this poem. However, I did not like the illustrations in this book. The illustrations did not enhance the text and were not visually appealing. On each page, the illustrations were only in green and white to mimic the holiday spirit. However, the illustrations did not seem to match the meaning of the poems on the page and felt thoughtless. The illustrations did not enhance the text and did not seem to have any relationship with the poems throughout the book. Overall, the big idea of this book is to share holiday spirit during Christmas time. ( ) keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
