Star Wars Episode 1 The Phantom Menace Movie Storybook, by George Lucas, is a book based on a movie. Inside are pictures from the movie and actual lines the actors said, I found this book fun for kids and maybe even a great book to read as a class. As a child of Star Wars I loved this book and it was one of my first books. One aspect I liked was the pictures, many of these were taken straight from the movie. This is a great part of the book for a struggling reader, or someone who just doesn't enjoy reading, they can look at the images and remember the movie, motivating them to read on. Another element of this book I enjoyed is the language that’s used. This is another thing pulled right from the movie that will pull children in who don't enjoy reading as much. The text also shows dialogue which is a very important technique that students will need to learn in their future education. Dialogue is also a concept that interests students and grabs their attention. One thing I didn't like about this book is the lack of creativity. If a student saw the movie there is nothing new for them in this book, the story is word for word from the movie. Also, the pictures from the movie are put right into the book, this can be a positive. The only problem is this leaves nothing to the kids imagination. This story has the big picture that life choices today will affect your future forever. ( )
