This is the sequal to Year of Impossible Goodbyes, though it doesn't really refer back to that book. Now Sookan is in South Korea, but has been forced to flee from her home after Seoul is bombed during the war. This is the story of her making a life for herself in the refugee camp and befriending a boy, even though that is forbidden by her culture. In the end she leaves her life even as it is restored in Korea to go to college in America. ( )
