Wheeler is something I can get behind. It neatly and sequentially categorizes the life and experiences of A.A. Milne, who's famous for his writing. What did he write? Mostly adult plays and stories for adults... until his son, Christopher Robin, was born. Does that name ring a bell? I think everyone knows about the little boy in the hundred acre woods who befriends none other than Winnie-the-Pooh and all of his unforgettable friends. That's right! A.A. Milne created Winnie-the-Pooh based on a teddy bear he and his wife gave to his son. I was so happy to learn so many interesting facts about the origin of this beloved legacy and even his other pieces of work, too! A.A Milne had a very eventful, successful life--including being a soldier in World War One. Who knew?! ( ) Alan Alexander Milne was born on January 18, 1882. He was a very smart child and did well in school. He went to school on a scholarship but soon started writing more and putting less effort into school work. After college and fighting in the war, he became an editor and began having his work published. He married Dorothy in June 1913 and they had a child named Christopher Robin. One day the mom brought a stuffed bear home and she and Christopher began making stories about the bears life. He never wanted to write children's books but one day on a rainy day on vacation he wrote many children's poems based on his son and his experiences and they become very successful. In the next few years they moved to a country home and he continued to write. He developed the story of Winnie the Pooh based on his son, his toys and the hundred acre woods was based on the area around his country home. The book did not sell as successfully as the poems so he wrote more poems. He suffered a stroke and was left partially paralyzed. He died on January 31, 1956. During the times of his death 7 million copies of Winnie the Pooh had been sold and today continue to sell. He wanted to leave a name that would live forever and Winnie the Pooh did just that. I love Winnie the Pooh and Wheeler did a wonderful job of highlighting Milne's life. Wow! I had no idea this was the man who created Winnie The Pooh! That was one of my favorite childhood cartoons and books. I love when I read things that lead me to connect something from my childhood! I thought it was very interesting that he was in the service considering how soft andy touching his books are, that is amazing to me! Zeige 4 von 4 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
