Female frogs lay eggs in the water, but what hatches isn't a frog yet—it's a tadpole! This classic Level 1 Let's-Read-and-Find-Out picture book shows the incredible metamorphosis that occurs as a tadpole loses its fishy tail and gills and becomes a frog. This book uses language very easy to understand by children to explain the life cycle of a frog. It starts with the egg, then the tadpole and how it grows a tail and so on all the way to a full grown frog. It explains what frogs do in each of the four seasons of the year and uses the illustrations to make the text clear in the child's mind what is happening. This book is great for children who are just learning about life cycles of animals. The illustrations are colorful but true to form, not just animated cartoon pictures. My personal reaction to this book is that it reminded me when my twins were younger and fascinated with amphibians. We had a salamander at one time, chameleons, turtles, lizards, and tiny frogs. At one time we even had a pet iguana. This would have been a good book to use when teaching them about frogs. It's very easy for young children to understand and very detailed. Classroom extension 1. Have children draw pictures of a certain stage of the life cycle of their choosing and tell about what happens in their life cycle. 2. Show and tell. Bring a frog to class in an aquarium and let the children see first hand. 3. Let the children read this book individually before a science lesson. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
