The Africana Worship Book is a resource to help African American church people express their concerns and love for God through worship. This second volume offers new liturgies from the Africana culture with special attention to young adults and the praxis of worship.   The Africana Worship Book, Year B, contains the new calls to worship, liturgies, prayers, litanies, offertory prayers, doxologies, choral readings, creeds, chants and benedictions as we continue to unite Africana worship to present experiences. The compilations are based on Year B of the Revised Common Lectionary, yet are organized by worship elements for ease of use. In addition to growing from a new set of readings, this volume gives special attention to next generation liturgies written with the culture of young adult worshippers in mind, several short dramatic monologues, and sound files on the CD-ROM with demonstrations of several of the worship resources. Included with book is a bound-in CD, making it easy for congregations to reproduce the material for use in Sunday worship without needing to retype the material.     "Dr. Valerie Bridgeman Davis and Dr. Safiyah Fosua have assembled fifteen authors whose fingers are on the pulse of the African America experience, the African experience in Diaspora, and the African American Christian experience.   In perhaps what is the most refreshing worship resource that I have seen in thirty-nine years of ordained ministry, this book will serve not only ''this present age'' (to use the words of Charles Wesley). This book will also serve unborn generations of Africans in Diaspora. Its insights, its sensitivity, and is openness to the moving Sprit of God will bless congregants from the Call to Worship through the Benediction! As I read through its pages there were times when I though to myself, ''If this particular piece is included in the service of worship, then no sermon will be needed that day!'' The litanies, the calls to worship, the prayers, and the meditative thoughts provide a feast for the soul who ''on Jesus has leaned fro repose.''" ~ Pastor Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr Trinity United Church of Christ Chicago, Illinois   All laity and clergy involved in worship planning - Africana people, including African-Americans and persons who live in Caribbean and African nations - Multicultural Christian ministries - Ecumenical resource centers - Seminaries and colleges OTHER CONTRIBUTORS INCLUDE: Dr. Eugene Blair -- Detroit Annual Conference, where he serves as the Director of the Office of African American Spiritual Formation.
