Lunch Bunnies is about Clyde's first day in the middle school lunchroom and how important it was to not drop your tray. He had heard the horror stories of the lunch lady, Gloria, and how scary she was. During his first ever lunch period, Clyde learned that Gloria was just a big softie and wanted to help the students.

This is a good book for middle elementary students to work on their vocabulary because it is a little more difficult to understand but too easy for the older students.

Little boy bunny prepares for the first day of school and is fearing embarrassment of accidentally dropping his plate at lunch. His big brother picks on him saying he should have practiced with soup and how it will be horrible. Then he goes through his school day and gets to lunch and slides his plate and pays perfectly to his surprise his friend heads for a puddle and he knows she will fall. Here we worry about what will happen but he helped her up and the lunch lady told bullies not to laugh and be nice to her and gave her a seat and new food.

This was an adorable book about how a young bunny was preparing for his first day of school. His biggest fear is spilling his lunch trey, his older brother does not help the situation by antagonizing him. He was also worried about making friends, and having someone to sit with during lunch. He then realized the lunch room was not as bad as he thought. I feel as though this book is perfect for young students who have anxieties about starting school. This is a book I would like to read to my future class on the first day of school. I feel it is important for young students to know that they are not alone with having these anxieties. ( )

I liked this book for a few reasons. A highlight of this book was the descriptive language and word choice. The language in the book helped to create strong imagery. For example “That night Clyde dreamed about cafeteria lines miles long where you had to carry your tray up hills and over mountains, across rivers and down through valleys.” is a phrase that creates a clear picture in the mind of the reader. I also liked that the overall plot of this book is easy for children to relate to. Upon entering school, many children feel nervous about their new routines and the staff members they will have to interact with. Children sometimes judge people based on what others say before getting to know the person themselves. This is what happened with Clyde and the lunch ladies. Clyde had a negative impression of the lunch ladies because of what his older brother and other students said about them. However, once the lunch ladies helped Clyde and his new friend Rosemary he realized what everyone said about them was incorrect. The main idea of this story is not to make assumptions about people before you meet them. In the story Clyde had negative opinions on the school lunch ladies before he even met them. However after he met them he realized how nice they were and that he was wrong to make judgments about them before getting to know them. ( )
