Let's just say that it is sad when you are ripped away from a loved one, but to hold on to the memory of that loved does overcome a lot. For Night Hawk and Black Jack this rings true. He loved her for so long, even before she became a member of the Elite Ops. A marriage kept them apart then, but to finally be together was beautiful. I wish Lora would make this story a sequel. ( )

I absolutely loved this one and I would've given it a freaking 5 star review, but that ending just blew the whole thing up. It was fast and it was confusing and it was so not what I was hopping after such a great storyline. That aside, Black Jack and Night Hawk made one hell of a couple and their chemistry was just sizzling and the writing just as good as always. ( )

This book is a little different from those that Ms. Leigh has written in the past. This story deals with two of the aristocracy of England. Travis Caine gave up his title when his wife betrayed him to a very nasty criminal element. He has worked for Elite Ops since that betrayal. Travis is all dominant alpha male and is very good at doing that job that is his cover. He has also had a thing for Lilly (Lady Veronica Lillian Harrington) since he first met her at her coming out ball. I think in many ways Travis is happier as Travis Caine instead of Lord Xavier Travis Dermont. I have read enough historical romance to know how stuffy the English aristocracy can be with member of there clique. Travis has watch Lilly's back for six years and he is tired of waiting to make her his.

Lilly went into Elite Ops when her father was killed. She was supposed to be dead in the same car accident. Travis saved her but she was determined to find the person that had caused her father's death. She is a excellent assassin and a very good agent. She has helped in a number of missions that involved Travis. While her cover is as an escort she never went to the point of having sex with any of her clients. When she loses her memory she keeps many of the instincts that have saved her life over the last six years. She also remembers that Travis is important to her and that she can trust him. Lilly is intelligent and wise. She is also intuitive and people smart except for her mother. She also misses her family which has maintained her loyalty to over the years.

This story has a very different villain. It is hard to read about a family member betraying one of their own. In many ways I think that this is the worst betrayal. We all want to think that we can count on our families no matter the situation. In this case that isn't possible. Ms. Leigh does keep you guessing as to who the real villain is though. Now there are a few errors in the titles and succession of the title but that can be over looked. There is also a problem with the names at the end of the book. As always there is hot, hot sex most of which is teasing and foreplay. I think these two are interrupted more than any of the others have been. We also don't get to see as much of the others as we did in the previous stories. I did enjoy the book and would recommend it to those that enjoy this genre. ( )

This is the first of this series that I have read and loved the story. It kept you guessing who was the killer through out the book. Great read! ( )

"Black Jack", Lora Leigh's latest addition to her Elite Ops series, doesn't live up to the adventure and pace of her previous novels.

Lilly is a British noble turned Elite Ops agent after surviving an attempt on her life that also targeted and killed her MI5 agent father. Six years have passed and Lilly has been targeted once again, this time at the cost of her own memories of her life underground. In steps Travis Caine, Code Name: Black Jack. Travis trained Lilly, as well as having been her lover. He is the best chance Lilly has of regaining her memories and surviving them.

The problem is the Elite Command has turned against Lilly. They can't tolerate having a potential security breach of her missing memories and return to her less-than-loving family. So the orders to Travis and other Elite Agents are to verify Lilly does NOT remember those missing 6 years or eliminate her if she does, leaving Lilly with both the "good guys" and "bad guys" gunning for her.

Most of this book involves Lilly demanding that Travis tell her about her life and Travis telling her no. Lilly also gets brief flashes of memory returning, accompanied by severe pain, making for that much more trauma drama. All of this against a background of Lilly's very arrogant and upper crust mother haranguing, belittling, and berating her for her less than perfectly proper behavior. And someone is still trying to kill her. Is it any wonder that Lilly has occasional urges to just shoot them all?

While I usually adore Lora Leigh's work--whether Breed, Nauti, SEALs, Bound Hearts/Pleasure Club, or Elite Ops series--I did not like this one. She seems to have phoned the last two books of hers in. This book lacks action while being too heavy handed on the constant bickering of a family that should be welcoming Lilly's return home "from the grave." Instead of her usual stellar writing, we get the Elite Command showing that they really care nothing for their agents and are willing to kill them to cover their own backs. The agents feel like they have to betray their command in order to protect themselves, and most of them are not even able to trust each other. And all of it ends very abruptly without any real feeling of closure or a wrap-up of the mess left at the end.

If Leigh wanted to destroy the comraderie created in the previous books of the SEALs and Elite Ops series, she has done a good job. Otherwise, I think I would rather file this one along side a shower scene of Bobby in Dallas. ( )

Dedicated most thankfully and with the utmost love to my daughter, Holly, and my son, Bret, who are growing up much too fast.

You are two of the most enduring and most special lights in my life. You bring me laughter, joy, and love, and I thank God for the very special gifts he sent me when he sent to me my babies.
