The Tale of Two Bobbies was a unique true tale that stemmed from a natural disaster. It was heart warming to see how close these two were and how Bobbie was protective of Bobbie due to being blind. A cat with a seeing eye dog is very special.

Normally I don't care for animal stories, particularly those based on true events. They tend to be too sweet, too nostalgic, too moralistic. A colleague highly recommended the story so I felt the need to give it a try. Thankfully this tale of friendship between a cat and dog is just right in all three areas. These tail-less pets (hence the "bob" names) keep each other company, and perhaps help each other survive during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Gouache illustrations are realistic. ( )

The true story of a dog and a cat who are left behind by their fam- ily in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina; only by sticking together can Bobbi and Bob Cat survive a very frightening time. The kindness of humans enables them to finally be rescued. Afterword.

Bobbie and Bob Cat are best friends. When Hurricane Katrina strikes New Orleans, they are left to fend for themselves. Never leaving Bob Cat's side, Bobbi leads the blind cat to people who take them to a shelter. The workers soon realize they are not to be separated and when the shelter closes, a national call is made to find the two a home. They wind up getting adopted by a nice lady in Oregon where they live happily.

A heart-warming story about a different side to Katrina, I loved this book. I think it is nice to focus on the positives of horrible situations and this book does that. I did not know it was based on a true story until the end and I loved the picture of the two Bobbies the book included. ( )

This was a wonderful book about two Bobbies and their unbreakable bond through tragedy. Like many animals, the two Bobbies were left behind during Hurricane Katrina and where in search of a home and food. The cat Bobby would follow the dog Bobby everywhere he would go. A construction worker begins to feed the animals but his boss says they can not stay so he sends for a animal rescue to come rescue them. The two are seperated at the shelter but that does not last long when the Bobbies were not happy about it. Eventually, they are the last two animals at the shelter and are adopted together. Why where the Bobbies so close? Turns out the cat Bobby was blind and the dog Bobby took care of him and protected him. This is a heart warming story that turns tragedy into a feel good story and happy ending! ( )
