A lovely suspense story. Read the book in one night. It was fun to read and I would read it again. ( )

EVIL WITHOUT A FACE fell short of its goal. It really had potential, but it lacked detail. There were so many question that remained unanswered. And not in a good, fill it in for yourself kind of way. ( )

Nicki Archer is tired of her mom spying and yelling at her. She talks to a young girl in an internet chatroom and makes plans to run away. It never crosses Nicki’s mind that it may not have been a young girl she has been chatting with.

Jessica Beckett is a bounty hunter in Chicago. A victim of an abused childhood. Jessica has a personal vendetta against child abuser Lucas Baker. Even though he is not the one who abused her, she still is trying to find evidence to bust him. She steals his laptop, plants a tracer, and plans for him to lead her to an even bigger crime organization. Instead, Baker winds up dead with Jessica being the prime suspect for his murder.

Payton Archer is a has-been football player who brought his attitude and his alcohol addiction to fame. Not proud of himself, Payton lives alone in Alaska and continues to drown his sorrows. When his parents died young, Payton grew up fast, taking care of himself and his older sister. When his sister calls hysterical, he learns that his niece has disappeared. With the help of some police officials, he and his friend Joe are soon following Nicki’s trail to Chicago.

Baker’s laptop is linked to a multinational human trafficking organization, Globe Harvest. Jessica has a hunch that Baker was running kids. She thinks it is no coincidence that Payton is looking for his niece from Alaska, when Baker was expecting a package from Alaska on the same day. They team up, and find themselves on an action-packed, emotional rollercoaster ride across several continents.

Jessica is a smart and sassy heroine who will have you laughing and crying with her. She has guts, and is confident in her beliefs of right and wrong. Payton and Jessica are tentative with another for awhile, but soon they find something together worth hanging onto. EVIL WITHOUT A FACE is a non-stop action thriller that I couldn’t put down. Terrific characters, a sound plot, and just the right amount of romance makes EVIL WITHOUT A FACE a sure winner!
