The main idea of this book is about a boy and owl that want to play together but are not awake during the same time of day. Even though the plot could never actually happen in real life, it is made to be believable by the author. The owl in the story has thoughts and feelings. She wanted to play with the little boy because other owls won’t play with her. The owl even uses the boy’s alarm clock to try and get up on time to play with the boy. Through this development of both the characters and the plot, the story seems believable. The setting is fairly realistic – the owl lives up in the trees near the boy’s house and the boy lives in the town nearby. One thing I really liked about the story was that the author explained in the story that the owl had trouble staying awake in the daytime and that the boy had to be in bed at nighttime. This would help readers understand the story better, especially younger readers. I also enjoyed that at the end of the story there was a resolution even though the boy and owl could never play together. In the end, the other owls played with the owl and the boy made a kite in the shape of an owl so that he had an owl friend too. This was a nice ending because it was still realistic and acknowledged the differences between the owl and the boy but still created a nice ending to the story. ( ) Sean's current favorite book is The Sleepy Owl. It's the story of an owl who over sleeps each night and misses playing with her owl buddies. She tries to befriend a young boy who gives her an alarm clock to help her wake up when he's awake. Of course this works out disastrously for her and her friends so the alarm clock has to be returned. In the process though, the little owl does learn how to wake up on time and the little boy learns something about owls. It's the perfect story for Sean, a little boy who loves owls and has a pair he likes to visit on the weekends. Besides having loads of adorable owl drawings in it, it also has a clock and an owl painted kite. Sean also has a clock and an owl kite so he sees a lot of himself in this book. Last night we even had to tuck in The Sleepy Owl book when we tucked Sean in for bed. Zeige 3 von 3 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
Because she never wakes up before the other owls leave for the night, Little Owl feels lonely and tries to make friends with a little boy. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
