This was a quick little read. I haven't watched the cartoon that this book is based off of, but it was still a nice little story that could fit into the overall story line of Star Wars. The illustrations get a little funny, and my only complaint is that I want more time spent on them. A little detail can go along way.

I would say this is a good fit for kids just getting into the franchise. Easy to read and not to complicated to follow. ( )

During a space battle between the republic and separatists, Ahsoka sneaks off with Anakin to go on a mission with him and his squad to delay the making of separatist warships. While they're on the planet they are discovered and they have to escape while destroying the separatist war ships. They get split up and Anakin and Obi-Wan try to free some slaves while ahsoka and Rex try to find them. Master Plo Koon prepares a bomber squad to destroy the factories. Anakin and Obi Wan disguise themselves as slaves and are discovered at the same time as Rex and Ahsoka.

I thought Shipyards of Doom was a great book for the age group (7-9). The pictures were colourful and detailed and the plot was exciting. With a little suspense and a lot of action, this book is an excellent supplement to the Clone Wars. ( )

As I've previously bemoaned, last year Dark Horse's Star Wars comic series Clone Wars Adventures came to an end. It's been replaced by this, also a series of comics in the digest format, except that instead of having four short stories in a volume, there's just one long one, and the art (still provided by the always-awesome Fillbach Brothers) is in the style of the new The Clone Wars cartoon instead of the old Clone Wars one. There's really not much difference; despite the longer length, the story here's just as insubstantial as any of those in CWA, except that this has got Ahsoka in it, and I am praying that she gets impaled by General Grievous. But: it's just a little bit less fun, somehow.
