The timeline doesn't use any sensible scale or unit of measurement: there's a much wider gap for a 3-year period than a 20-year period! ( ) This book was extremely dry. It did have all the true facts and the sources to back up the facts. However, the author did not make Chapman's story interesting. The pictures that were used in the story were also extremely bland. For example, the picture on the page, where she talks about him traveling, is just a picture of a grassy field and mountains. However, I loved that the book had a timeline on every single page, and as his story went on, things got added to the timeline. I did not that John Chapman was his actual name. I also thought it was interesting to learn that he would dig up apple trees to plant orchid trees. He then would sell the apple trees and seeds. He also loved telling stories and reading. As a part of a series called "First Biographies," I found this book very interesting. It is written at a level where an early reader could understand the main point of the book. It gives enough information about Johnny Appleseed so that a child sould be able to say who he is and what he is famous for, if asked. Johnny Appleseed was born as John chapman. He began planting apple trees from their seeds and he gave apple trees or Apple seeds to other settlers while he was traveling. He go put his name because he helped people plant orchards. This book was okay. It would have been better if it wasn't so straight forward. "Johnny Appleseed" by Lola Schaefer is an easy to read biography about John Chapman, also known as Johnny Appleseed. The book shares a timeline of Johnny's life from when he was born in 1774 until his death in 1845. The book focuses on how John Chapman loved to plant appleseeds and how he gave apples and their seeds to everyone he knew, which is also how he received the nickname "Johnny Appleseed". He was a selfless man, and told stories to everyone. The book is great for students learning to read because of the big font and easy words. The book also contains a "words to know" page in the back of the book which lists unfamiliar words with their definition that children may not be aware of. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
