In the sixth and final book of the Samantha series, Samantha experiences much change; she now lives a halcyon life in New York City with Uncle Gard and Aunt Cornelia. When she searches the city for her friend Nelly, she discovers her in a foster home with her sisters. When they are in danger of being separated, she takes the three of them out and hides them in her attic. They are discovered by her aunt and uncle, who decide to adopt Nelly and her sisters. ( )
