After purchasing many DK travel guideline, I am happy to report this book on Jerusalem and the Holy Land is excellent. Especially like the number of photographs that were included. Book was easy to read and I am taking it with me as I travel to Israel this holiday season to experience the land of our three major religions. No one has ever stated they had a bad trip.

DK makes very good travel guides, and this one did not disappoint. It is laid out regionally, with convenient color-coded pages that correspond to a map at the beginning of the book. Included in the book are Israel, and parts of Jordan and Syria. The full-color pages are laid out in a visually appealing way, with lots of photos, "fast fact" graphics, and maps. Each attraction has a description, location info, and associated costs if any. Major attractions have much more extensive descriptions and photos. Included at the back of the guide are lists of hotels, restaurants, and general traveller information. The only aspect missing from the guide are detailed religious references for each of the sites. This would not be an issue for most travel destinations, but since almost every location in the Holy Land is linked to either Judaism, Christianity, or Islam (or more than one of the above), it should have been included here. A great supplement to this book for Christian travelers is "How to Walk in the Footsteps of Jesus and the Prophets: A Scripture Reference Guide for Biblical Sites in Israel and Jordan" by Hela Crown-Tamir.
