Cathy Vickers cannot manage to find more than a few days of rest in her hectic (and mortal) life--she barely has time to put the mystery surrounding her father to rest before she finds herself targeted by a group of Ancestor Lu's professional killers! Recognizing she is a serious threat to everyone in her life, Cathy makes plans to leave town. But her friends Emma, Pete, Victor, and, surprisingly, Jun, unite to convince Cathy that they must finish Lu off once and for all to have any chance at a life of peace--mortal or immortal. Meanwhile--unbeknownst to Cathy--Victor has made the ultimate sacrifice with the hope that mortality will bring him closer to a normal relationship with Cathy. But when Victor is seriously wounded and Cathy finds herself attracted to another mortal with similar feelings for her, Cathy's world turns upside down and she is forced to make a decision about her future with Victor. What will Cathy decide, and how will her epic battle with the immortal ancestor Lu play out? Find out in the newest adventure-packed installment of the Cathy trilogy, now available in paperback!… (mehr)

Teen fiction. The conclusion to the Cathy's Book trilogy, though certain activity on the various websites suggests there may be more stories forthcoming. I didn't look at the "evidence" that came along with this book, so perhaps I can't judge the full effect of the material, but this one was a lot less exciting than the first two installations. ( )

Book three of the series and it feels like the authors have written themselves into a corner. This one lacs the tension of the other two and there didn't seem to be the same degree of romantic tension either. I love the illustrations that really add to the story, this is almost a graphic novel, the illustrations add to what's going on in the story, telling you what the humour of the author is.

Not bad, preferred the first one. ( )

Con questo libro termina la trilogia dell'avventura "immortale" di Cathy and Company... Succede di tutto... fino ad arrivare al famoso anello... ( )

Cathy's Ring almost got a Maura's Choice like it's predecessor, Cathy's Key. But I felt that Cathy's Ring started off really slowly and the ending was good but not how I would of liked it to end. I won't give any spoilers away, but I wish the ending, and maybe this book all together, would have had more action in it. I felt it was lacking in that, and the ending was one where the books ends but you know the world continues and you'll just have to imagine what will happen next without knowing completely. I don't think there will be a 4th book, I wish there was. Like I mention before the book started off a bit slow but then it picks up and it's just as fast paste as the the other two Cathy books. This book doesn't have you investigating anything really, which I was kind of sad about, you just read it like a normal book. Like the other two books it's in a diary kind of format with illustrations/doodles and words on each page. Which makes the book look attractive and entertaining. The best thing about the Cathy series, other then the interactive part of it, is the look and format of the book. The books are laid out in a way that is appealing to audience and will have anyone want to read it, even if you think it's not your type of book. I don't really have any complaints about it other then it's a bit slow, and then the ending. I also don't have anything else to say that hasn't been said in my previous review of Cathy's Key. I mean this series was wonderful and I recommend it to anyone. It's a easy read series, but is entertaining and will leave you wanting more. The illustrations are fabulous and the writing and dialogue are perfect. Many times throughout this book I found myself laughing out loud at some of the dialogue. I promise that you wont regret reading this series. ( )

Okay, so in this installment - a bunch of goons are out to kill Cathy because she knows too much and keeps interfering. She decides to get out of town to protect her family and friends when they're threatened, too. But of course, the gang has no intention of letting her ride off without so much as a goodbye. So they hatch a plan to put Ancestor Lu out of business...

Cathy's Ring is definitely not a stand-alone. Some basic background is given in-text, but without some basic familiarity with the previous books Cathy's Book and Cathy's Key. This is the one where everything comes to a climax. It's certainly fast-paced and there's plenty of adventure to be had with assassins trying to kill Cathy right and left. Plus there's a beautiful poster included as part of the 'evidence'.

I still love Emma, but I was less of a fan of the inevitable love triangle surrounding Cathy - but it seems to be The Thing To Do in YA fiction these days, so I can't say I was terribly surprised. I don't really think this was as strong as the other two in the series, but I still had fun. And after coming this far with Cathy and her trouble with immortals, it was impossible not to read on and see what became of her relationship with Victor.

More posted at my blog.

FTC Disclosure: I received a free review copy from the publisher. ( )
