What stood out to me was how Grimes didn't just list simple words like "A is for apple". I really liked how she stepped out and listed words that I wouldn't even think of, such as "arcade" or "Afghans". I started to wonder why Grimes chose the title of this book to be "C is for City", and then it dawned on me that this story goes throughout the city, and Grimes writes about the different things you can do or see in the city.
I think this would be a great book for young children learning the alphabet, just because it lets them explore. On top of that, I think the illustrations are phenomenal, and it definitely ties the whole story together. ( )
